With the increased use of VFD’s (Variable Speed Drives) a common question gets asked “Can you eliminate the bypass?”  To protect pumps that run continuously, bypass piping and/or bypass orifices have been used over the years with the primary purpose of protecting the pump from running against a closed valve.  With the increased use of adjustable speed drives where we can slow pumps down when flow decreases, does this mean we can do away with the bypass piping?  This webcast will address these questions and provide some important points to consider when considering eliminating the bypass.
