A-dec offers continuing education courses for dentists, assistants, hygienists and office staff. Our mission is to help dental healthcare personnel (DHCP) deliver excellent services to their customers, while maintaining a healthy, balanced life. Our offerings range from a 2 hour course to multiple day conferences. We are an AGD Pace and ADA CERP certified provider and look forward to being your choice in dental education. Our team is committed to created industry leading curriculum that utilizes the latest in adult education principles. We build our courses with an outcome driven model and encourage ongoing engagement with our learners.
Mariah joined the A-dec team in 2014. Collectively, she has over 15 years of experience managing complex global teams, conducting research and teaching corporate and collegiate courses. Prior to joining A-dec, Mariah managed large-scale research programs, including a federal grant-funded randomized control trial to enhance employee health and performance. She has worked for and consulted with Fortune 500 companies managing programs for executive leadership training and development. She spent time living and working abroad in Serbia, Scotland and Ecuador, and has a passion for launching new initiatives and using evidence-based research to enhance organizational outcomes. Mariah holds a doctorate in Public Affairs & Policy from Portland State University, a Master's degree in Adult Education & Political Science from Oregon State University, and a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from Willamette University.
Darby began his career at A-dec in 1995. He began as a CNC operator in our machine shop. Darby later joined our Customer Service Department as a Customer Service Representative providing technical support for core equipment and clinical products. Darby joined the training team in 2007 providing sales support and technical training around the globe. Darby’s role as Technical Trainer included training technicians on A-dec products both at the A-dec facility and at dealer locations all over the world. Additionally, he conducted product training sessions for A-dec employees, reviewed technical documents and service guides, and develops training materials for new products. Currently, Darby is the supervisor of the Sales and Technical Training department responsible for leading the training team’s vision to ensure successful training events where our customers gain necessary skills required to provide knowledge and support to their dental practices. With over 20 years in the industry Darby provides a wealth of knowledge to guide and support training.
Sandy is the Training Specialist at A-dec. She started her career at A-dec in 2012 as a Customer Service Assistant. Her customer focus led her to the training department in 2015. Sandy works closely with the entire Customer Experience and Training team to schedule programs and support onsite training activities. Sandy is your go to person for any logistical or registration questions both online and in Newberg.
Prior to joining A-dec’s training team in 2015, Karen worked at Portland Community College in a variety of capacities; teaching part-time in the ABE/GED and College Success and Career Guidance programs, partnering with career and technical education programs at the high school and college levels, and directing the academics and operation of the PCC Newberg campus. Karen has a Master’s degree in Adult Education from Oregon State University and is a lifelong learner.
Andrew joined the training team at A-dec in 2015. Andrew travels internationally for A-dec conducting technical and ergonomic training for partners and internal employees. Andrew has a passion for helping others come to a new level of understanding regarding sales and technical concepts that directly impacts their work. Andrew has a background in adult education with a Masters from Gordon Conwell and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Washington State University.
Thad joined the Sales &Technical Training team at A-dec in 2015. In this capacity, he has conducted training on four continents, as well as onsite in Newberg. As a trainer, Thad strives to equip dental professionals with the knowledge and skills they need to excel in their careers. Whether in-person or online, he seeks to create learning opportunities that are engaging and applicable. Thad previously taught high-school, college-age, and adult learners and has a Master’s degree from Portland State University.
Linda is the Facilities Coordinator at the A-dec Education Center. Linda started working at A-dec in March of 2013. She came from a long career in the real estate field, working in land title, real estate and home loans in Montana. Linda’s positive attitude and customer focus ensures your experience onsite will be both enjoyable and stress-free. She is responsible for the coordination of domestic sales and dealer visits. She also works closely with the tour guide program at A-dec, training and certifying the volunteer guides.
Dana is an Events Coordinator with over 20 years of experience at A-dec. Dana is an organized and detail-oriented professional with strengths in event planning and execution. She is passionate about customer service and will execute your events flawlessly to ensure an amazing experience for you and your guests. Her strong communication skills are geared to both internal leadership and providing outstanding customer service and she works hard to ensure you have a successful and stress-free event. Dana holds an Associate’s Degree in computer technology, and Bachelor’s in business management minoring in organizational dynamics.
